My Thoughts

We first met Dawson in book three of this series, where I must confess he was not my favorite character, but he has a great story of redemption in this novel that soon makes me cheer for him and Philippa.  Although you do not have to read this series in order, the first three novels are fantastic and give good background information for this fourth installment.  I really liked the development of the relationship between Dawson and Philippa.  In typical Jody Hedlund fashion, she writes fantastic character depth with clean, burning romance that makes it easy to get to know and love the characters.  I also loved the spiritual themes of growth through difficulties and trusting God’s plan.  I enjoyed the setting of the Middle Ages.  And the mystery and twists of the story were unpredictable and easily held my attention.  I highly recommend this novel and this series!

My Thoughts

I was thrilled to learn that Jody Hedlund wrote another book in this fantastic series!  I do recommend reading the books in order as it gives you the best background to the holy water and its impact.  This time slip novel is so unique and the plot so engaging that I had a hard time putting it down.  I really liked the two main characters and their developing relationship in the book.  And, of course, I loved the sizzling romance between Sybil and Nicholas, in true Jody Hedlund fashion.  The action and twists in the book were so well written I found myself reading late into the night to finish the story.  I loved reading about the way the characters grew closer together through the trials they faced.  I highly recommend this series!

My Thoughts

What an exciting and creative series this has been!  The premise for both book one and this second installment have greatly intrigued me and the plot has been imaginative and interesting, easily capturing my attention and keeping me up reading way too late on several occasions!  I really liked Ellen and Harrison in this novel; they’re complex but relatable, kind, and passionate.  I also really like stories with characters that have deep friendships first that slowly develop into something more romantic.  I do recommend reading the first book before this one as you get a lot of background information about the timelines and characters.  I highly recommend both novels!

Come Back to Me by Jody Hedlund

About the Book

Marian Creighton did not believe in time travel—that is, until her father drank water supposedly from the Tree of Life in an attempt to try to cure her ailing sister and went into a coma, forcing Marian to test his theories.  She is suddenly transported from modern day to the Middle Ages.  There she meets William Durham, a knight determined to protect Marian.  However, as Marian begins to develop feelings for William, she is torn between wanting to go back to present day to try to save her sister and staying in the past to find her father and perhaps even follow her heart.

My Thoughts

Is there anything that Jody Hedland cannot write?!  This is the first time travel story she’s written and she knocked it out of the park!  I love how she engaged me early on in the book as I became invested in the intriguing and unique plot.  The characters do not take long to tug at my heartstrings and I could not put the book down, as I wanted to know what happened next!  I liked the medieval history in the novel, as this is not an era that I commonly read.  This book is more than just a struggle of will-they-won’t-they romance, because there is about 700 years standing in the way of the characters’ romance.  This allowed the story to have more depth and interest as I found the plot unpredictable and fascinating.  I really enjoyed this book (as I do all of Jody Hedlund’s!) and I am eagerly looking forward to what she writes next!  Highly recommended!
