My Thoughts
We first met Dawson in book three of this series, where I must confess he was not my favorite character, but he has a great story of redemption in this novel that soon makes me cheer for him and Philippa. Although you do not have to read this series in order, the first three novels are fantastic and give good background information for this fourth installment. I really liked the development of the relationship between Dawson and Philippa. In typical Jody Hedlund fashion, she writes fantastic character depth with clean, burning romance that makes it easy to get to know and love the characters. I also loved the spiritual themes of growth through difficulties and trusting God’s plan. I enjoyed the setting of the Middle Ages. And the mystery and twists of the story were unpredictable and easily held my attention. I highly recommend this novel and this series!
