Lady Georgina Hawthorne has a secret. She has perfected the art of making everyone think she is a spoiled lady of distinction in order to hide her secret. She has carefully laid out plans to marry well in order to preserve this secret. The success of this debut season determines the results of years of meticulous planning. Colin McCrae may have money and a successful business, but he possesses no title, and thus is easily dismissed by the elite of England. He has no interest in the shallow Georgina, despite the fact he thinks there may be more to the beautiful woman than what she shows to society. But the sparks between them fly and they realize they may have more in common than they had initially suspected.
I enjoyed the first novel by Kristi Ann Hunter, but I loved this book. Georgina might seem spoiled and selfish, but this fragile confidence simply serves to hide her true secret. This plot is unique as the first part of the book is actually the last part of the previous novel but from Georgina’s perspective. I enjoyed this unique writing style and grew to like Georgina much more than I had in the previous novel. Thus, although it is not essential to read the first book in this series, it certainly provides more background on all the characters. This novel had great character development, beautifully descripted scenes, and excellent spiritual truths woven throughout. I most highly recommend this book!
I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
