Love’s Rescue by Christine Johnson

Elizabeth Benjamin returns home to Key West after receiving news that her mother passed away. She is eager to see if Rourke O’Malley, a childhood crush, is still as handsome, dashing, and courageous as she remembers. She fears facing her brother and father, however, after a family event that caused her to leave the island four years ago. Pressured by the demands of society and family, Elizabeth must choose to follow her heart or selflessly give up her desires to help those she loves.

This book opens with interesting action and intriguing romance. The plot contains enough complexity to make the story interesting, but it does lack a certain depth to the characters and their relationships. The romance between Rourke and Elizabeth becomes a bit lost amidst the other subplots. Elizabeth has a frustrating personality initially, but her character redeems itself throughout the novel. There were some surprises throughout the book that kept my attention and created a good summer romance. I was also impressed with the author’s research and knowledge of the nautical life. Overall, this novel is recommended to those who enjoy an interesting seaside setting and romantic story.

I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
